SO.. YOU'VE DECIDED TO HIRE A PEST CONTROL
COMPANY. BUT HOW DO YOU FIND ONE THAT
YOU CAN TRUST TO DO THE JOB RIGHT AND ONE
THAT WON'T OVERCHARGE YOU?
HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE THINGS TO LOOK FOR
WHEN SELECTING THE COMPANY THAT'S RIGHT
FOR YOU.
Let's face it. Hiring a stranger to do something that you know little about can be a little bit intimidating, especially
when the business will be doing things that may harm your family, your employees or your assets and reputation if
done poorly. That's why ACCORD PEST CONTROL provides this little "primer" to help you decide who you may
want to hire as your pest management professional.
We are not a "mega-company" and we know there are many who visit this site who will never call us or they live in
areas that we don't serve. We simply provide this section as a tool for anyone who seeks advice on this important
issue. If we can be of more help, please let us know.
THINGS TO LOOK FOR FROM YOUR PEST MANAGEMENT COMPANY AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN:
1.) Ask to see a copy of their company license. Make sure they are licensed by your State to apply pesticides.
Also ask if the company does criminal background checks and if they do drug testing. IMPORTANT!
2.) Ask to see a copy of your technician's personal license. Many States do not require your service rep to be
licensed. However, it is highly recommended that you use one that is.
3.) Make sure the company and the technician's license allow them to do the work you are hiring them to do.
While you're at it, ask if they have experience doing what you plan to have them do for you. While a company
may be able to kill all the roaches in a national taco chain, it may not be the best for a food distribution center
or for treating carpenter ants in your home.
4.) Ask for a copy of their insurance, including workman's comp.
5.) Look for membership in State or national pest control associations.
6.) Ask what training they have received. Have they taken Purdue University or Texas A&M training? If not, you
may want to choose another technician or even another company.
7.) Take a good look at the person doing the work. Do they have a uniform? Do they have a photo-ID? These
are the "basic" marks of a professional.
Note that answering all these questions affirmatively does not guarantee that the company you choose will perform
in ways that meet your expectations. However, it does make the selection more likely to produce a positive
experience for you.
Remember, too, that a large national chain company is not better than a local company that has well trained
personnel. In fact, you are probably better off with a small, well trained, company as your business will be more
important to them than the big boys. Note, too, a small company is not better simply because it is a small company.
One last point; don't expect miracles. If you have a severe cockroach infestation, or rodents taking over the
kitchen, don't expect your problem to be resolved with one service visit. It took some time to get in that condition
and it may take a while to fix the problem. Just because your technician can't make the problem immediately go
away doesn't mean they are incompetent.
GOOD LUCK! If we can help, just give us a call or drop us an email on the "request service" tab.
